Sharetown Retailer Map

Eric Owen | Sharetown | October 2026

As of 13 Oct 2026

Sharetown picks up, cleans, stores and resells big and bulky returns for brands and retailers, with trained local reps and a partner platform behind them.

This map lays out the retailers and brands that should know about that work: the groups they sit in, how large each group is where a clean public count exists, and who usually signs off inside each one.

The groups follow the categories Sharetown names on its own site, sleep, furniture and fitness, plus the wider set of sellers who deliver large items to the home.

Where the buyers sit

Counts are firms, not sites, and are banded on purpose. A group with no clean public count says so rather than showing a number. Brands that sell online and have their products made for them are counted as sellers, so they sit outside these counts.

Who usually signs off, by group

Titles vary with size. At a smaller brand the founder or the head of operations often holds most of these seats.

What each group is weighing

GroupWhat moves the decision
Sleep brands and mattress makersLong home trials that send product back, the cost of each pickup, and what happens to a returned mattress after it leaves the home
Furniture makers and storesFreight on large items, damage on the way back, warehouse space for returns, and getting value back from open-box stock
Fitness equipment brands and storesHeavy items that are costly to ship back, in-home pickup that protects the customer experience, and resale value
Every groupLandfill and emissions goals, a returns process that reflects well on the brand, and one view of every pickup

How the decision usually runs

At an online-first brand the operations or supply chain lead usually owns the returns problem and brings a partner in, and finance approves once the cost per return and the recovered value are clear. The customer experience lead often has a say because the pickup is a moment their customer sees.

At a store group the decision tends to sit with supply chain or the delivery operation, and a pilot in a few markets usually comes before a wider rollout.

Where to start

Start with brands that run home trials

Sleep and fitness brands that let customers try a product at home carry the returns cost of that promise. The operations lead and the CFO at those brands both feel it, and a zero-cost pickup with resale speaks to each of them.

Use your own case studies as the opener

Your site already carries stories from brands that cut freight costs and returns headaches. Opening with one of those gives the supply chain lead a peer result to react to before any demo.

Bring the experience and sustainability leads in early

In-home pickup by a trained rep and resale or recycling instead of landfill matter to the customer experience and sustainability leads. Getting them into the first conversation adds two voices who can push the decision forward.

Built from public federal registries and the company's own website, counts banded deliberately.
